Next stop France…

The band’s seven date French tour is just around the corner. They are fully rehearsed, the setlist has been chosen and they’re chomping at the bit to play live again. If you do attend any gigs on the tour, please be aware that the whole touring party (band & crew) need to maintain a ‘bubble’ to avoid anyone contracting Covid. Clearly, in the confines of a tour bus, any illness can spread easily to everyone on board.

So, if you see a band or crew member, please respect the bubble and don’t take offence if a handshake or hug isn’t forthcoming. It’s nothing personal! It’s been a long wait for gigs to start again, let’s not jeopardise them. Next stop Valenciennes, see you out there…

An open letter to the Familyinblack from Pam Greenfield

As most people know I rarely air my views about what I see on social media about The Stranglers. However, I feel that it is time I said a few words due to the upcoming European and British tours.

Just because I’m usually quiet doesn’t mean I don’t watch. Unfortunately, I have seen a lot of venom about previous members of the band. Please take into consideration that although Hugh, Paul and John have since left the fold they were all integral parts of a massive jigsaw puzzle that was/is The Stranglers. All of them decided when they should leave. I am pleased to have been able to know all of them and still consider them as friends and brothers. Then Baz, who has been a family member longer than Hugh or Paul, is one of the best guitarists I have ever seen live and introduced “new life” in the live band when he joined .  And of course, there’s Jim, who was mentored and fully supported by Jet when he became too ill to tour. The band wouldn’t still exist if it wasn’t for their integral participation and I think we should all be grateful for the fact that they were a part of The Stranglers family.

Which now brings me to the next point…I hope all of you can find it in your hearts to welcome the new keyboard player to The Stranglers family.

Unfortunately, Dave, I suppose, picked his time to leave us all. There is no magic wand I can wave to change the past, believe me, if I could I would. But I do believe he will be watching, nodding approval and wanting the best reception for his acolyte from all of you. Also, please remember that Dave wasn’t the first keyboardist in The Stranglers…

Although, it will be difficult for me seeing the band play again, I know that I must to heal my own wounds and show support for my family and welcome the newest member with open arms. I hope you can all do the same.

Hope to see all of you, somewhere, sometime on the British tour.

Tokyo live album release

Today marks the second anniversary of the final show of the band’s Tokyo trio of gigs in winter 2019. That final gig, at Tsutaya O-West on 5th November 2019, was the last ever show featuring Dave to be officially recorded. We are pleased to announce that that gig is to get a release on both CD and vinyl as ‘THEMENINBLACKINTOKYO’.

Vinyl cover artwork

The double CD is housed in a digipack with stunning artwork and includes the full 22 track, career spanning set from Grip to Freedom Is Insane. The limited edition double album is pressed on 180gm vinyl.  There is also an exclusive tshirt featuring the album cover design.

As with Dark Matters, we are offering a variety of bundles which can be pre-ordered from our store now here. The CD is to be released on 3rd December however, the limited vinyl release has unfortunately been delayed due to worldwide pressing plant backlogs.  We will update you with more details on availability soon as we have it but vinyl orders are expected to ship late January 2022.

Updated 9/11- the limited vinyl is now totally sold out. Apologies if you missed out.
