We are pleased to confirm that the band head back out on the road for a tour of the UK and Ireland in March 2019. Under the title ‘Back On The Tracks’, the tour consists of a total of 19 gigs covering Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Scotland and England. Kicking off across the Irish Sea, the first gig sees the band returning to Ulster Hall in Belfast on 28th February and then heading south for a Dublin Olympia show on the 1st March. After a few days for travel, the next gig is in Scunthorpe in Lincolnshire on the 5th which no one can be sure if the band have ever played until now! The itinerary then heads north of the border for a trio of Scottish gigs visiting Aberdeen, Dunfermline & Glasgow (back on the Saturday night!). The tour then visits a further 13 cities in England including a hometown Guildford show on the 19th and the London gig at Brixton O2 Academy on the 22nd. Brighton is back on the itinerary for 2019 and there is also a concert in Bournemouth before the customary tour finale at O2 Apollo in Manchester on the 30th. Special guests for all dates are Dr Feelgood

40 years since Battersea Park

Today marks the fortieth anniversary of the band’s legendary 1978 open-air gig at Battersea Park in London. The event was the culmination of months of planning by the band’s management and wranglings with the Greater London Council (GLC) over venues that were available for The Stranglers to play, with possible shows at Stamford Bridge and Ally Pally both being blocked. In fact, the band hadn’t been allowed to play a large scale London gig since the five night stand at the Roundhouse the previous November.

Black & White @ 40

Exactly 40 years ago today, on 12th May 1978, the band unleashed their third studio album, entitled Black And White, on the world. It was a monochrome masterpiece and, debatably, the first post-punk album. Peaking at number 2 in the UK charts, it further cemented the band’s position as a major chart act. The album spawned two hit singles, firstly the ode to the Amsterdam Hell’s Angels Nice & Sleazy and secondly, the band’s legendary cover of Walk On By (which they also gave away as a white vinyl freebie with the first 75,000 copies of the album). Listen to the full album in all its blistering, brutal glory on Spotify here and transport yourself back to ’78. Black and white becomes…
