Winter Euro tour update

The band’s 13 date European tour in November and December, visiting France, Italy, Holland and Germany, is now less than a month away.  Five of the gigs, Penmarc’h, Herouville, Amsterdam, Worpswede and Hamburg, have already sold out and the remaining gigs are close to capacity.

Sadly, we have been advised that Ruts DC are not appearing as special guests for the complete tour but only selected shows (Paris, Bologna, Turin, Rome, Amsterdam, Hamburg and Berlin). Apologies to anyone inconvenienced by this. See you on the continent…

Alice Cooper tour completed

The ‘Ol’ Black Eyes Is Back’ tour with Alice Cooper and MC50 came to a climax on Saturday in Cardiff, with both support acts joining Alice onstage for a rendition of the anthem of youth ‘School’s Out’. The tour was a great success, filling out seven arena shows around the UK and Alice didn’t fail to disappoint with his legendary live show! We asked Baz for his thoughts on the gigs:

Flying straight for 40 years-1979 to 2019

Amazingly The Raven was released forty years ago today! The band’s fourth studio album is considered by many to be their best (including some band members!). For the 35th anniversary, we published a detailed article about the album The Raven In Retrospect, read it here. Happy birthday to my friend The Raven

Laurent Sinclair (5/4/61-1/9/19)

‘My friend Laurent Sinclair has died at the age of fifty eight. He was the keyboard player for the iconic French band Taxi Girl who supported The Stranglers on the 1981 La Folie tour. He was a very talented pianist and, after that band split, I helped him with a few productions, notably a track called “Devant le miroir”. There is even a version for a TV  show featuring Alex Gifford (our saxophonist at the time), me on bass, John Ellis on guitar and it looks like the drummer of the Cure . Can’t remember his name. Check it out on Youtube

When I was asked to present something at the Transmusicales of Rennes in France I came up with the idea to form a band playing sixties material from my childhood, the Purple Helmets. He was the original keyboard player for that band.

He will be buried at the famous Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris which is also the final resting place of Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde and Edith Piaf amongst many other legends’.

Summer festival season ends...

The band’s busy festival season over the summer drew to a close in the stunning surroundings of Sibernik in Croatia last night. They played a total of 14 gigs throughout the summer which kicked off in late May with a pair of shows on the west coast of the USA. Further dates saw the band visit Scotland, Wales, Devon and even Blackpool plus European gigs in Belgium, Portugal and Corsica before last night’s finale in Croatia, every show was packed with enthusiastic fans. Thanks to everyone who came along to any of the summer gigs.

Next stop for the band is the seven show jaunt with Alice Cooper around the UK in October, followed by the trio of November Tokyo dates before travelling over to Europe for 14 gigs to end the year. See you on the road…
