Rebellion return

We are pleased to announce that The Stranglers are confirmed to headline the Rebellion Festival in Blackpool in summer 2022, following their previous appearance there in 2019. The legendary independent punk and alternative festival takes over the Winter Gardens complex in the Northern seaside resort over the weekend of 4th to 7th August 2022. The weekend schedule gets announced closer to the event so we can’t confirm which date the band are headlining as yet.

Tickets for next year’s event go onsale from 5th August this year although tickets for the cancelled 2020 & 2021 festivals are valid for next year’s weekend. For more info, and tickets when they are available, go to the Rebellion site here

New Album 'Dark Matters'-pre-order now!

We are pleased to announce that the band’s eighteenth studio album Dark Matters will be released on 10th September 2021 and it is now available to pre-order through The Stranglers Official Store here. The album contains 11 songs which were recorded over the course of two years in the band’s Somerset HQ. The album was completed remotely during the Covid lockdown in spring this year with Louie Nicastro behind the controls. Dark Matters will be available on CD, 180gm black vinyl, limited red/black smoke coloured 180gm vinyl & even a limited cassette as well as 25 special signed white label vinyl test pressings.

All pre-orders for the album from The Stranglers Official Store, on any format, will receive an exclusive CD entitled Dave Greenfield-A Tribute. This bonus CD, featuring 8 unreleased live recordings, was selected by the surviving members with a view to celebrating Dave’s unique talent. It includes two of the new album tracks performed with Dave, live versions of four Stranglers’ songs that feature Dave’s distinctive vocals and one of the last ever recordings of the band from their 2019 Japanese tour.

The first single from the album And If You Should See Dave… can be heard here and will be available to stream from 14th May. It’s a poignant and heartfelt tribute to their dearly departed band member. We will bring you more exciting news about the album’s release soon…

One year on...

A very sad anniversary today. Exactly a year ago, we heard the devastating news that Dave Greenfield had succumbed to Covid19 and had passed away. Following the public announcement, the news spread around the globe causing a massive outpouring of both shock and emotion from the band’s fanbase worldwide. The world had been robbed of a huge musical talent and many peers and colleagues in the music business took to social media to send messages of condolence and tribute (revisit In Memoriam here). Dave was a Strangler for 45 years and his arpeggios and keyboard runs were an unmistakable signature of that Stranglers’ sound. Our thoughts are with Pam, his family, friends, fellow bandmates and crew today. Please join us in raising a glass for DG. Fond adieu Dave, fly straight x
